Blueprints and Dreams: My Vision for the Future of Architecture
What do you want to study? What is your dream job? Where do you want to study These are the types of questions every teenager will be asked at some point.
What do you want to study? What is your dream job? Where do you want to study These are the types of questions every teenager will be asked at some point. They might have the answer at that moment, maybe it’ll take them time, or perhaps they will know until it’s too late. Choosing what to study will define the rest of your life. Everyone has gone through the phases of deciding what to study. If you’re lucky enough to know from a very young age what to study (like me), you will see your future very clearly, and you’ll know exactly what to do to enjoy every part of your career.
Thinking about how you see your future isn’t something you will know at the very first moment. “I want to study architecture to decorate and build houses.” Yes, I want that. But I also have to know the lifestyle an architect has, the tendencies I like, the courses and programs I can do after I finish my career to expand my knowledge, and how my career will evolve through time. This is something you’ll learn little by little. Taking every chance you have to take a course or any extracurricular activity will help you to start learning about your future.
In my case, I want to study architecture. In the architectural world, there are many fields you can specialize in. You can study architecture, focusing more on the construction side or on the more creative side. I see my future as something open to new opportunities. I don’t want to be stuck for the rest of my life just sitting in an office and working on renders all day. I want to be able to try new things every day and contribute to building safer, better, and more creative spaces.
Architecture has evolved impressively. Back in the day, churches and homes looked nothing like what we see now. The architecture from the past was filled with ornaments and details. Now, times have changed. You’ll see minimalism, sustainable, open spaces, and of course, AI.
I want to focus more on the sustainable and minimalist tendencies. The future of modern architecture is something unknown. In ten years, I see my field of study as an extensive one. I will have completed my bachelor’s degree, and my dream master’s degree in interior architecture.
I think that the creative and design industry is something that should be respected and taken care of. I fear that the AI world will take over this industry. For me, the design industry is very important and special. It is the one in charge of helping people design their environment. Everyone who is part of this industry has that special spark. The drawing of a house made by AI is nothing compared to one made by hand. Yes, AI helps a lot, but we can’t lose that special spark and let AI do all the work. In ten years, I see myself working in an industry where people can be themselves and feel free to create any type of art. Architects, interior designers, fashion designers, and others work to please not just the eye, but also the soul of a person. For many people, their home is just home, but for others, it is that special place, their comfort place. I wouldn’t be happy if my home were built with AI.
People and time will change, but I still want to see the future of this industry as a tool that helps many people. A lot could happen in 10 years. New tendencies will arrive, but I’m sure the architecture and design industry will continue to be as it is now: the best work industry.
T he future of the industry is bright, and I hope to be part of it.
